While he left over 20 years ago, Mark has retained a strong emotional bond to Hawaii having been born and raised in Honolulu. His passion for the visual arts led him on a path toward architecture by the age of 14 and immersed him in drawing, painting, and sculpture classes. Mark’s love of the arts and his childhood in the islands shaped his perception of the natural and built environments and continue to influence his approach to design.
His work balances risk-taking with appropriateness and seeks clarity, rigor, and thoughtfulness. Mark personally connects with his clients and shapes their needs into form and space that is functional, sensitive, and poetic.
Mark’s drive led him to become a licensed architect at the age of 26.
